The very last of the original front-driven style of bicycle, this Crypto Bantam bicycle was manufactured for a short time in the 1890s and was previously owned by a Mr Howarth of Masterton. Aratoi holds this rare item in our collection.
Note that there is no chain. The Crypto Bantam bridged the gap between the Penny Farthing (which was considered dangerous for the general public to ride) and the pneumatic-tyred safety bicycle (the design we know today).
