Rhondda Greig - First there was Phoenician

Showing
-

Bridging the space and time between the script of ancient Phoenicia and contemporary living, Carterton-based artist Rhondda Greig explores the notion of home through painted letters and words.

Recalling the Phoenician origins of script, the exhibition expresses the ongoing human attempt throughout history to transmit ideas through the word – its meaning, shape, and visual sound.

First there was Phoenician showcases Rhondda Greig’s skill as a graphic artist and poet - poem becomes painting and painting employs poetry.

Her work is held in a number of private and public collections in New Zealand and overseas, including Aratoi's.

Opening: 29 November 2019, 5.30pm

Exhibition continues until 9 February 2020.
