An exhibition of recent paintings by Carterton artist Rebekah Farr, exploring the theme of exile and migration.
Originally inspired by images from the 1968 Wahine disaster, the artist was drawn to more recent images of refugees. The focus of each artwork is the strength of the people, following a story of leaving, a harrowing voyage and the unknown outcome of arrival. The exhibition explores those desperate journeys and asks us to consider how we view those fellow humans who face the terrible wrath of the sea in the hope of reaching a better life.
Rebekah and Author Adrienne Jansen will present their art on the Refugee / Immigrant Experience - 11am, 9 February 2019
