‘VISION / MEMORY’ is an installation artwork by acclaimed artist Marie E. Potter on the windows and in the foyer of Aratoi. During the Kokomai festival, more and more of the Aratoi / Entice Cafe / i-SITE windows will be covered with words relating to the Wairarapa.

‘Mr & Mrs’ is an installation of objects from the 1911 Normandell House exhibited inside Aratoi. Normandell House serves as the centre of New Zealand Pacific Studio, the artist residency where Potter is the 2015 Friends of Aratoi Fellow.

A finalist in the 2014 Wallace Art Awards and the 2014 National Art Awards, Marie E. Potter is an established multimedia artist who explores New Zealand’s social and cultural history. Potter's work is underpinned by an ongoing re-evaluation of New Zealand cultural and social traditions broadly associated with the early settlers and the British hegemonic systems established in the 1800’s. Potter interrogates associated rituals and traditions and where these values sit today in 21st century New Zealand.
