‘Masterton Modern’ is a sampling of an era in which New Zealand moved from a far-flung colonial provider to a modern nation. The exhibition provides a small history of ‘the Modern’ influence on Wairarapa’s architecture, art and culture with images and objects from archival and contemporary collections.

Bill McKay. Senior Lecturer/ Associate Head, School of Architecture and Planning, University of Auckland and one of the authors of “Beyond the State” will be presenting a talk about the development of the State House; as part of the ‘Masterton Modern’ exhibition curated by Gregory Smith.
