The Wairarapa Camera Club’s 2104 Exhibition, Hidden Faces, Hidden Gems continues a biennial tradition of exhibitions of the club’s work.
In the recent past the club’s exhibitions have explored coastal and environmental themes.
However, over the last few years an emphasis of the club has been on impactful story-telling using the media and techniques of photography.
In the images chosen for this year’s exhibition, the photographers communicate personal stories of beauty, foreboding, reminiscence, joy and despair.
We hope that visitors to the exhibition will find the photographs stimulating
About the Wairarapa Camera Club
The Wairarapa Camera Club was formed in 1953 to ‘encourage the study and practice of photography’.
It has been said that with a digital camera ‘everyone can take good photographs’.  It is true that digital photography affords greater convenience and artistic control but, in truth, the step from ‘taking a good photograph’ to making a work of photographic art, is a long one.
The focus of the Wairarapa Camera Club is very much on photography as an art-form and as a medium to communicate.
