Mastervegas is the title work of an installation show previously installed at Aratoi in 2008.
The concept for the show was an exploration of the space between the Haves and Have Nots in Wairarapa society. Other works in the original installation included modified card tables, billiard balls and glittery text.
"My works rest in the space between where there is uncertainty or confusion, and certainty or definitives."
Materials like neon and the green baize of both pool halls and places like Las Vegas confuse the lines between wealth and poverty or elegance and seediness.
There is also irony and a sense of not being able (or willing) to take oneself too seriously.
